Weekly Stable Update
Peter Petrify
Pete is expected to be arriving in Minnesota any day now to join Nick Roland’s barn, where he will be racing at Running Aces. We are very excited to be opening up a position with Nicky as we continue to expand our stable to various tracks across the country.
Beef N Cheddar
Beef put in a strong effort back at Saratoga Harness this past Saturday night, where he enjoyed some class relief at the $12,500 claiming level. He finished a strong third against a tough group of claimers. He is back in to go in the same class this Saturday night and draws post 6 with Matty Ice driving.
Manhattan Artist
Arty was unable to get involved from post 5 this past week. He was not far off from the rest of the field and made up some ground late, but ultimately finished sixth. He is back in to go this week, where he draws post 7 and gets a driver change to Leon Bailey. We look forward to seeing if Arty can overcome the outside draw and be more of a factor this time out.
Beat Bobby Bayou
Bobby got the week off this past week and is back in to go at Tioga Downs this Saturday night. He draws post 6 with Mike Merton driving in a $7,500 race. We look forward to seeing how Bobby does this time out coming off the week’s rest.
Cruzin America
Coming off a week of rest, Cruzin is back in to go this Sunday at Tioga Downs, where he drops into a softer spot going for a purse of $7,500. Despite drawing post 7, Cruzin is still listed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite. We look forward to seeing how he does in this spot and hope he can pick up his first win for the LLC with Braxten Boyd in the bike.
Phantom Tom
Tom put in a respectable fourth-place finish at the Topsham Fair on Wednesday. He attempted a first-over move and got up to nearly even with the leader but was unable to get past. Despite dropping back and losing a bit of ground toward the final stretch, he still fought on to hang tough for fourth. Tom has now recorded a third and two fourth-place finishes in his first three starts in Maine, hitting the board in all three races so far.
Dance Machine
Coming off two consecutive second-place finishes, Dance Machine put in another solid effort at Batavia Downs this past weekend despite drawing post 6. He finished a not-too-far-off fourth, once again hitting the board. Dance Machine has been consistently earning and putting in good races with trainer/driver “Booch.” He is right back in at Batavia Downs this Sunday, where he draws the rail. We expect him to take advantage of the inside draw and be a major threat this time out.
Wonka Bar
Wonka picked up another solid check this past weekend at Saratoga Harness, finishing fourth in his usual NW1 class. Despite it being a NW class, Wonka has been going up against some tough horses in here. While it appeared Wonka was a bit of a ways off the winner, the race went in an eye-popping 1:54 and change for the class. With that said, Wonka has continued to hit the board very consistently while earning well and fitting nicely in this spot. He is right back in at Saratoga Harness with post 3, going for a purse of $9,200.
Yamaka
Yammy was unable to be much of a factor his last time out. He has been drawing poorly and not getting much racing luck, but the veteran remains active. As the Maine Fair Circuit starts to gear up, we look for Yammy to be more competitive in these fields. He unfortunately draws post 7 but is in to go in his first fair race of the year at the Skowhegan State Fair in Maine this Sunday.
RobinTheCradle
Robin finished fourth on Saturday night at Scioto Downs in a $15,500 race. He got parked out attempting to leave from post 6 and remained parked for the entirety of the race. Despite the taxing trip, he was still able to hang tough and finish fourth. Prior to this start, Robin had won two in a row out in Ohio. He now moves back inside with post 3 in a $12,000 race this Saturday night at Scioto Downs, where we look to see if he can make it three wins in his last four starts.
DiscoveringTheHunt
Coming off a second-place finish her last time out, Hunt handled the step up in class very well as she put in another strong effort, finishing second in a $21,000 race. She surged up the passing lane late and just barely missed the win by a very small margin. Hunt has looked much improved over her past few starts and is back in to go in one of the top mare classes at Yonkers yet again this Friday night. She draws post 2 with Jim Marohn Jr. driving in a $23,000 race.
Besta Blue Chip
Our Chapter Seven yearling, Besta Blue Chip, returns to action to make just his third career start this Sunday in the first race of the day at Tioga Downs. He draws post 4 in a field of six in a $20,000 New York Sire Stakes Excelsior Series race. He has Braxten Boyd in the bike, and we are optimistic for improvement in Besta’s first race back after a month of resting up and getting better.
Top Notch Treasure
Currently 3-for-3 and undefeated in his young career thus far, Top Notch looks to make it 4-for-4 and remain perfect this weekend. He is back in to go in another Maine Sire Stakes race for 2-year-old colts and geldings at the Topsham Fair. He draws post 1 with regular pilot Mike Stevenson in the bike. We look for Top Notch to take advantage of the inside draw, try to wire the field yet again, and keep his perfect streak intact. This definitely should shape up to be an eventful week for the LLC, with plenty to look forward to across the stable. Some of the biggest storylines include Top Notch looking to remain perfect, Besta returning to Sire Stakes Excelsior action, Hunt continuing to compete for huge purses at Yonkers, Cruzin listed at 2-1 on the morning line, and Dance Machine drawing the rail at Batavia. Those are just a few of the races to look out for, with plenty of other horses across the stable in action and looking to put together strong performances.
