Week of April 1st

Weekly Stable Update

This past week we sent out the following horses:

Yachtsman got off to a bit of a slow start in his first two races in Maine as he didn’t get his usual 4th place check this week, despite his inside draw. We did get an update from trainer Chris Dubois that he came up a little sore after his last start, no fault of his own, and he has been struggling a bit in the turns. Chris mentioned it is possible Cumberland may not suit him the best, but with Plainridge opening in a couple weeks, we are optimistic, as he has shown in the past that he can perform well on a bigger track.

The other Y brother, Yamaka, was not in to go this week, no fault of his own as Cumberland did not card a race for his class, but Chris said he trained great this week and we will keep our eye out for his next start.

Phantom Tom: Despite running off the board, he showed a lot of life this week. He took advantage of his inside post and got right out to the early lead. He maintained the lead for a good portion of the race, but unfortunately the horse on the outside eventually ground him down. Even after getting past, Tom still did not get submitted and continued to fight on and finished a very close 5th place. He is still just getting back into his rhythm after quite some time off and we expect Gary to keep him moving on the right track going forward, as he is great at keeping horses sound.

Wonka Bar made his 2026 debut Tuesday in race 1. Even with the rough draw from the 7 post, he still managed to pick up a 5th place check in his first race back. We expect to see him entered right back in next week in the same class and hope for a better post position. We look for him to be even sharper this time around after getting that first race of the season under his belt.

Peter Petrify N ran a HUGE mile and we were very pleased with his effort. Despite being parked out with a very rough trip after leaving from the 6 post, he continued to fight on with so much pace and even managed to clear and wear down the #3 horse. He fought on for a very strong third place finish in a race that went very fast for his class. He now moves inside to the 2 post this Saturday and we expect him to be a major factor in there this week. Trainer Irvin Crews will be driving again and flashing the official Steve Moskowitz Racing LLC Sulky. Look out for him in Race #2, Saturday, April 4th. Post time 12:20pm.

We have also been hearing very good reports on our yearlings, Top Notch Treasure and Besta Blue Chip. They have been training well and we are very excited about their development.

Note that Easter Sunday this weekend may prevent some of our horses from getting in but as always, we maintain our “Next Race Up Mentality” regardless.

One final important announcement for this week : The first ever Steve Moskowitz Racing LLC Giveaway will be going live this Friday! One lucky winner will be taking home some merch for completely free. Stay tuned for the Instagram video going live on Friday evening with further details and instructions on how to join.

Stay tuned for the results and future updates/entries as they come in!
