Weekly Stable Update

This past week, we sent out the following horses:

Yamaka put in a respectable effort in his second race back from the 8 post but just didn’t have enough to pick up a check this week. He was only beaten by five lengths and was not far off. This week, he draws the 6 post in a six-horse field and is listed as the 2/1 morning line favorite with Kevin Switzer in the bike. He is entered in Race 2 on Friday, April 24th at Cumberland.

Yachtsman stepped up in class this week, facing a very tough group of pacers at Plainridge on Tuesday. He was not too far off and appeared to may be gaining some ground late, but the horse in front of him made a break, which prevented him from making a stronger late move.

Phantom Tom showed improvement this week and closed strongly to pick up a fourth-place check. He was not beaten by much, and with a drop in class from the 4 post next week, we are confident it won’t be long before trainer Gary Levine gets this trotter back to his winning ways. He is entered in Race 2 on Monday, April 27th at Saratoga Harness.

Peter Petrify N unfortunately drew the 8 post in back-to-back weeks and was unable to overcome the outside position. Trainer/driver Irvin Crews did a solid job keeping him from getting parked out, and he showed some pace, but it wasn’t enough. He will get the week off, and we are hopeful for a better post position and improved result next time out.

Wonka Bar had the week off and is back in to go next week. He draws the 1 post with his usual driver, Jim Devaux, listed. We are hopeful for a strong effort from the rail. He is entered in Race 2 at Saratoga Harness on Tuesday, April 28th.

Although it was another relatively slow week for the stable, we received a great update from trainer Kevin McDermott on our Chapter Seven yearling, Besta Blue Chip. Sean Campbell drove Besta alongside another promising young horse from the McDermott stable, Munster Truck, and they went a solid mile together in 2:32. The video is available on our Instagram—feel free to check it out.
