Weekly Stable Update

This past week, we sent out the following horses:

Yamaka was the star of the stable this week with a dominant wire-to-wire victory in the Mazel Tov Pace at Cumberland Raceway from the 6 post. He fired right to the lead and never looked back, never facing an anxious moment throughout the mile. He looked every bit like a true 1/5 shot, waving his tail goodbye to the field and delivering an impressive win for the stable. He now steps up in class to a $7,000 purse—Race 8, post 5—this Saturday at Cumberland.

Yachtsman: After careful consideration and discussions with trainer Chris Dubois, we’ve decided to close our chapter with Yachtsman. He was a good horse who brought us countless purse checks and great memories during his time with the stable. We’ll never forget his 9-1 victory at Tioga Downs, as well as the experience of buying him back after the unfortunate claim during the claiming series, just before the final. He’s headed to a new home and is in good hands.

Phantom Tom: Tom wasn’t as sharp as we had hoped this week despite the class drop, though he did manage to pick up a check. We were expecting a bit more, but trainer Gary Levine noted that Tom seems to be just going through the motions right now. It may simply be a tough stretch following his return from injury. He drew the 8 post in Race 12 on Tuesday, which won’t make things any easier, but we remain confident in “Tommy Boy” moving forward.

Peter Petrify N: Pete had the week off, to no fault of his own, as he just did not get into a race. After drawing back-to-back 8 posts, he now moves into the 4 post, which should be a significant advantage. With the improved post position and a week off, we’re expecting a strong effort this week. Look for him in Race 3 at Saratoga Harness this Saturday.

Wonka Bar: Wonka showed strong early speed this week, taking full advantage of his inside post to secure the lead through the first half. Unfortunately, he was overtaken and faded late, holding on for a 5th-place check. On a positive note, we’ve received an encouraging update from trainer Gary Levine that he will be racing on Lasix going forward, which could help address his late fade. We’re optimistic about improvement in his next start.

On some additional good news, trainer Gary Levine shared an update on our Chapter Seven yearling, Besta Blue Chip, noting that he has been training very well and continues to progress nicely.

Another week in the book, we’ll continue to provide updates as they come in.
