Weekly Stable Update
Beef N Cheddar
After a win and a second-place finish in just his first two starts in Delaware, Beef came up sick and was given a few weeks off to recover. Since returning, he has been a bit unlucky drawing the 7 and 8 posts in his next two starts, where he was unable to be much of a factor. The outside posts proved to be a bit too much to overcome. He is now listed on the AE list for this week, so he will get the week off.
Manhattan Artist
Arty put in a strong effort from the 4 post this week. He fired out for the lead, but despite getting a rough trip and being parked on the outside through the opening half of the mile, he was able to find a seat in the pocket and save some ground. He stayed inside and tried to make a move late, and although he was unable to get up for the win, he was right there, missing by only about a length in a very game third-place finish.
Cruzin America
Cruzin put in a solid effort this time out at Northfield Park. Despite a bit of a rough trip, once he finally found some racing room, he closed very strongly late to hit the board with a fourth-place finish. He came home well and now moves inside to the 1 post with Justin Irvine in the bike this Wednesday at Northfield Park. He should be a major factor and finds himself in his best spot since relocating to Ohio.
Dance Machine
Dance Machine was able to fire out to the lead this time, but the blazing opening fractions proved to be a bit too much for him. He fought gamely on the lead but was eventually passed and tired late. He crossed the wire in sixth but was moved up to fifth following interference, still earning a check for the stable.
Wonka Bar
Wonka was unable to get involved this time out as he moved up in class yet again and returned to Saratoga Harness in an $11,750 race from the 8 post. He showed some pace late, but the trip from the far outside was simply too much to overcome. He has now picked up one second-place finish and three very impressive wins in just his first five starts with the Harmon Stable. He gets the week off and will await the entries for his next start.
RobinTheCradle
Coming off a win at the Delaware Fair in Ohio in a $15,000 race his last time out, Robin put in another very strong effort at Dayton Raceway. He finished a game second in a very speedy mile won by a heavy 1/9 favorite who was taking a significant drop in class. Robin was easily the best of the rest, finishing a clear second, and this 3-year-old colt continues to impress us and race very well out in Ohio. He is now back in to race at Northfield Park on Sunday night, where he draws the 2 post in an $11,500 race.
DiscoveringTheHunt
Hunt put in a very strong effort this Tuesday night at Yonkers, finishing a closing third and missing the win by only two lengths. She didn’t get the cleanest trip from the 5 post but was flying late and right there in a race that went an extremely fast 1:52.3 on the half-mile track on a cold night. She has been racing very well in some tough classes and continues to show improvement. She is right back in the same class Tuesday night, drawing the 4 post and racing for a purse of $24,000. We are optimistic for another strong effort.
Top Notch Treasure
Top Notch returned to Maine for the Sire Stakes final, racing for a purse of $81,110. Despite drawing the 8 post, he fired right off the gate and got away second for a pocket trip. He remained in the pocket for most of the mile before making a move to the outside late, but was unable to catch the leader. Nonetheless, he finished a clear second and put in a very strong effort to overcome the far outside post.
Exciting Stable News – Lexington Yearling Sale
In addition to this week’s racing updates, we have some very exciting news to share! We made the trip out to Lexington and added two new faces to the stable: Hip 94, “Freya Jules,” and Hip 110, “Neat Justice.” Both are New York and Kentucky dual-eligible trotters by Chapter Seven. We want to thank our trainers for all their hard work and assistance throughout the sale, and we are very excited to see what the future holds for these two promising young horses. We had a wonderful time out in Lexington and couldn’t have drawn things up much better. We are extremely pleased with how everything went and look forward to what lies ahead!
